(PRWEB UK) 17 February 2012

Skilled IT professionals in Edinburgh are being offered a range of recruitment opportunities with Swiss firm Avaloq Innovation, after it opened a new development centre in the city.

The new centre will ultimately create around 500 jobs, with plans to take on 400 software engineers in the first four years, growing to around 500 after seven years. Around 75 of the positions being recruited for in the first year will be graduate trainee roles.

The centre was opened this week by Scottish Finance Secretary, John Swinney, who said it was a huge win Edinburgh to be chosen as the location for Avaloq’s first base outside of Switzerland.

He said, “Avaloq have chosen to locate their new software development centre in Edinburgh and to recruit 75 graduates from our universities, which is testament to the high quality of Scottish education and enhances the strength of the city’s international reputation for finance and IT services.”

The development has been supported by a Training Plus Grant of £1.74 million from Scottish Enterprise. The software industry in Scotland currently generates more than £5 billion in annual revenues and is being aided by the country’s growing stature as a leading European financial centre.

(PRWEB) February 20, 2012

OC Music Center in Rancho Santa Margarita has started a non-profit charity called the OC Music Foundation. The purpose of the foundation is to financially support school band and orchestra programs in South Orange County; by partnering with local PTA’s in providing musical instrument rentals to students enrolled in their school band and orchestra classes.

The goal of the new organization is to provide cash donations to school music programs via their PTA’s and PTO’s, thereby ensuring that instrumental music stays alive and well in the public schools of South Orange County. Foundation president Jeffrey A. Gill, owner of two California music stores including OC Music Center in R.S.M., has personally provided almost $ 10,000.00 to get the non-profit up and running. According to Gill, the foundation hopes to donate at least ten times that amount ($ 100,000.00) to OC schools over the next decade.

Gill decided to personally take action in the OC after witnessing his once proud high school in the Bay Area, dwindle from two-hundred band members down to only twenty-seven musicians; this because the local elementary music programs were dropped by their district due to the seemingly never-ending state budget cutbacks. Gill wants to make sure that nothing like that happens in South Orange County. And so, although it has not been officially announced yet, the first recipient of musical instrument rental funds from the OC Music Foundation will be Melinda Heights Elementary School in Rancho Santa Margarita who will receive $ 1,000.00 for the forty band instruments they rented from OC Music in 2011.

Gill wants to encourage parents of children attending all schools in the Saddleback and Capistrano school districts to support their schools by renting musical instruments through this new non-profit foundation. Gill points out that besides helping your school, renting through the foundation is good value and has the following additional benefits:

Low Rental Prices
Brand-new YAMAHA Instruments
Rent-To-Own Credit
Hassle-Free Automatic Billing
Convenient Hours And Locations
An Easy Online Rental Process

The OC Music Foundation is a recognized non-profit 501(c)(3) charity organization that was founded by musician/businessman Jeffrey A. Gill, himself owner of two California music stores including OC Music Center in Rancho Santa Margarita. For additional background information on Mr. Gill, the foundation or his business in Orange County, please visit ocmusicfoundation.org and ocmusiccenter.com. You may also personally visit OC Music during regular business hours. The music store address is: 29941 Aventura, Suite D in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. 92688 – on Empresa at Santa Margarita Parkway next to Papa John’s.

Athens, OH (PRWEB) June 01, 2011

AdultPupils.com has recently launched a new series of pages that cover a variety of topics, most of which deal with the education of adults in various settings. One of the new articles, “Adult Learning Styles” talks about the different ways that adults gain information. While it is true that learning a specific way is not limited to adults, sometimes focusing heavily on one style of learning will work well for adults. Children, while also often having a specific preference for learning style, are often more adaptable and curious and will simply soak in information regardless of the format. Another of the new articles discusses prison education. Arguably, the goal of prison has many facets. One is to keep dangerous people away from the general public. Another is to punish the lawbreaker. But, increasingly in the modern world, prison is seen as a tool to transform felons into useful members of society. Education within the prison system plays a part in advancing that goal. Another of the new pages in the series on AdultPupils discusses memory improvement tips. While learning is often incorporates understanding and synthesis of ideas, the ability to memorize by rote does have its place. Finally, an article providing time management tips can help people who have trouble prioritizing and accomplishing tasks on time.

About AdultPupils.com:

AdultPupils.com was launched in November of 2010 and is a blog that seeks to keep its readers up to speed on the world of adult education. Often this type of issue is neglected either because of a lack of awareness by the general public, or the stigma of living with adult illiteracy. AdultPupils.com strives to fill this gap. The site is designed and maintained by WebsiteBusiness.com.

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) August 8, 2008

Dr. James B. Johnston, Chairman & CEO of SAGE Scholars, Inc., a consortium of 214 private colleges and universities in 35 states, today announced that three new schools – Fontbonne University (St. Louis, MO), Hamline University (St. Paul, MN) and Trinity Christian College (Palos Heights, IL) – have joined the Tuition Rewards enrollment marketing consortium.

122,764 students are now enrolled in Tuition Rewards, which fosters a dynamic relationship among families, colleges and financial institutions. 20,000 students have already joined in 2008. When registered students attend one of the 214 participating private four-year colleges, the family’s accumulated Tuition Reward points may be redeemed as a “scholarship” – a non-need based grant or discount — of up to one full year’s tuition.

Families earn Tuition Rewards by saving for college with a variety of financial partners, including the Pennsylvania and Wisconsin state 529 college savings programs and firms such as Allianz, Allstate, ING, The College Tuition Benefit and Wells Fargo. Tuition Rewards is the largest U.S. private college savings program (based on participating students and the value of eligible assets).

Fontbonne University, established in 1923 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, is the 8th Missouri private college to participate in Tuition Rewards. Fontbonne is close-knit campus community of some 3,000 students. Located in a tree-lined suburb in the heart of St. Louis, Fontbonne embraces diversity, inclusion, open communication and personal concern.

Fontbonne offers its 3,000 students 34 majors, 25 minors and 16 master’s degree programs in a wide range of areas, including a nationally-known deaf education major. Fontbonne has a national reputation for services majors such as dietetics, special education and speech-language pathology. There are 414 full and part-time faculty members, with a 1:13 faculty-to-student ratio.

Hamline University (St. Paul, MN), which stresses social justice, civic responsibility, leadership and service, is the 6th Minnesota college or university to join Tuition Rewards. Ranked first in Minnesota among comprehensive master’s universities by U.S. News & World Report, Hamline enrolls 1,902 undergraduates from 30 states and 31 nations.

Founded in 1854 and affiliated with the United Methodist Church, Hamline offers a choice of 37 majors and a median class size of 18; 94% of faculty members hold the highest degree in their field. Freshman seminars include such topics as the search for extraterrestrial intelligence, C.S. Lewis, Darwin and the Galapagos Islands, genetically-modified food and reincarnation. Hamline emphasizes the practical applications of a theory-based liberal arts education. Students participate in 70 clubs and organizations and 19 varsity sports.

Trinity Christian College is a four-year undergraduate liberal arts college located on 60 wooded acres approximately 30 minutes from downtown Chicago. With more than 30 majors — including business, education, nursing and pre-professional programs –Trinity offers its 1,400 students a wireless campus and a variety of world-wide educational and service-learning opportunities.

Trinity Christian students can study abroad through a “Semester in Spain” program; supervised trips are offered to China, Jamaica, South Africa and elsewhere. 42% of students are from out-of-state; more than 90% of students receive financial aid. Courses are taught from a Christian perspective in small classes (1:13 faculty-to-student ratio) where students are challenged to grow intellectually and spiritually. Intercollegiate sports, student-run praise and worship and a wide variety of clubs and organizations are part of a diverse, supportive community where abiding friendships for life are forged.

About SAGE Scholars:

SAGE was founded in 1995 by Dr. James B. Johnston, former Director of Admissions and Financial Aid at the Wharton Graduate School of the University of Pennsylvania. SAGE’s Tuition Reward plan is now the largest private college savings program in the U.S. — based on the number of participating students and the value of eligible assets.

There is nothing denying the fact that education is the backbone of a good and successful life. If you are interested in leading a life without any problems as far as the monetary issues are concerned, you should certainly study and get the desired degrees to your name. It will actually benefit you a lot in various phases of life. However, the major question that arises here is that, where should you join for the diploma or any other courses. No matter wherever you join, but make sure it is a reputed institution and there is enough importance of the same in the field. High school online is a wonderful way of extending your studies in a proper way. Here, you will get everything what you desire for and can also study the way you want.

High school online programs are offered over the internet itself, in which you do not have to attend any classes or lectures at any particular institution. There are no restrictions or any kind of rules and regulations for you. As the name suggests, it is completely an online program, where you can gain various degrees. The necessity of these kinds of high schools has been increasing with huge pace these days, with a sharp increase in the demand. More and more students are enrolling themselves to these kinds of programs.

Again, the students at high school online are also finding it comfortable and easier to give their future a wonderful shape. There are exams held online and if the candidate clears the same, a certificate is also issued to him/her. Basically, it is just like another institute, but the only difference is that, you can study at your home at a time suitable to you. There are simply no hard and fast rules to it.

Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) February 02, 2012

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) will present the WOW-Baltimore Concert on Saturday, March 3 at 8 p.m.—an evening of storytelling, music and dance, hosted by actress and comedienne Rain Pryor and featuring a special appearance by singer/songwriter and five-time Grammy Award-winner Mary Chapin Carpenter. The concert is the pinnacle of the first-ever Women of the World-Baltimore Festival (WOW-Baltimore) on Friday, March 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 3 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 4 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and neighboring venues. WOW-Baltimore is a new, three-day festival for and about women featuring a series of panel discussions, interactive workshops, spontaneous performance and a community forum for casual conversation. Please see below for complete event details or visit WOWbaltimore.org.

The WOW-Baltimore Concert will be a night of music, dance and spoken word with stories that celebrate the life, love and the spirit of women. From folk to funk, drama to comedy, the second half of this showcase features Mary Chapin Carpenter, the country/folk music legend known for hits that include “Passionate Kisses” and “He Thinks He’ll Keep Her.” She will perform an intimate “storytellers” set with a trio selected from her touring band.* Among the other local luminaries featured in this evening-long program are actress and comedienne Rain Pryor, formerly of HBO The Wire’s Maria Broom, Stoop Storytellers, the Baltimore-based contemporary dance company Dance & Bmore, a “WOW Mom Choir,” jazz singer Lea Gilmore and a Soulful Celebration with Baltimore City College Choir and eight of Baltimore’s premier dance companies. * Editor’s Note: Ms. Carpenter has donated a portion of her fee back to a nonprofit showcased in the WOW-Baltimore Festival.

About the WOW-Baltimore Festival

Founded by Jude Kelly, Artistic Director of London’s Southbank Centre, the WOW–Women of the World –Festival was created to celebrate the formidable power of women to inspire change, explore womankind’s shared history, draw attention to injustice, enjoy female camaraderie and to encourage men to add their support to a movement that seeks a more fair world. WOW-Baltimore was inspired by BSO Music Director Marin Alsop’s participation in the inaugural WOW Festival presented by the Southbank Centre in March 2011. It also furthers the BSO’s vision under Alsop to become a more accessible community resource that is both relevant in the 21st century and has a real and positive community impact. It has always been WOW-Baltimore’s intention to be an event for the community and presented by the community. In keeping with this ethos, the BSO held 10 community “Think-In” planning sessions to help shape the content of WOW. More than 400 women (and men) responded to this open invitation to share their personal stories, discuss issues facing women in Baltimore and around the world and help plan the first-ever WOW-Baltimore. WOW-Baltimore is the first WOW Festival outside of London. The second annual WOW Festival at Southbank Centre, supported by Bloomberg, takes place on March 9-11, 2012.

Mary Chapin Carpenter, singer/songwriter

Mary Chapin Carpenter has always chosen her own path. From her first gigs as a rising star on Washington D.C.’s folk scene in the early 1980s, she has made a reputation as both a singer and songwriter with a mind of her own. Over the course of an 11-album recording career, Carpenter has won five Grammy Awards and sold over 13 million records. She has scored 12 Top 10 singles, including “He Thinks He’ll Keep Her,” which was nominated for a Record of the Year Grammy.

Carpenter signed with Zoë Records in 2007, and her first release with the label, The Calling, received a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album, her fifteenth overall Grammy nomination. In 2008, Zoë Records released Carpenter’s first holiday album, Come Darkness, Come Light, which includes some favorite Christmas songs by other writers, rarely heard traditional tunes, and six Carpenter originals. In 2009, Zoë Records released Carpenter’s twelfth album, The Age of Miracles.

Carpenter has achieved the same success as a live performer having toured nationally and internationally for nearly two decades winning two Pollstar Country Tour of the Year awards. She has remained immersed in humanitarian work throughout her career, performing in support of cancer and AIDS research, U.S. troops overseas, the Campaign for a Landmine Free World and hunger relief efforts, among other causes. Carpenter was also part of a CNN special on the anniversary of September 11, and recently she has contributed a regular, bi-weekly column to The Washington Times. Additionally, Carpenter has been featured on NBC’s “Today Show;” CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman,” NPR’s “Morning Edition,” NPR’s “All Things Considered” and CBS News’ “Sunday Morning.”

Our life on earth is valuable but brittle. We could almost not blame anybody for singing it safe. It looks like almost normal to get the good behaviour while reduces the bad. But the Christian being is no matter but safe. There are three crowns exclusively point out in the New testimony, the crown of righteousness, the crown of beauty and the crown of life. Crown of life is one of the more interesting and specifically mentioned aspects. Do not be fearful about in what situation are you. I tell you, the evil spirit will place several of you in top-security prison to check you plus you would undergo harassment for 10 days.
