on bloggers
Tonight I caught up with Bron, Peta and Scott at the Dada bar in Prahran (is it just me, or does that have nothing to do with how it sounds?). And it was heaps of fun (hey guys:)
For those who don't know them, that's the folks behind Geekbee, Someone and Darklemon, respectively.
It was great fun talking about anything and everything, and getting the goss on all the web people I've heard of and never met — it's a shame I won't be able to catch up with everybody again without flying all this way. There's heaps more I want to say but I can't find the words right now (or maybe I'm just kinda worried about Peta's photos)
I should probably mention the bar: atmosphere was great, food was so-so (my chicken burger wasn't too bad, but everyone else seemed a little disappointed. Peta's seafood risotto started a very dinner-table friendly conversation which I'm not about to bring up again. Bad pun. Sorry).

on religious, uhm, weirdos
Coming back from where I asked Scott to drop me off tonight, I noticed a bunch of people crowded around the Swanson St end of Flinders St Station, under the clocks. Lots of yelling, people standing around. World Cup, I thought.
No, a strange bunch of religious types doing some kind of ceremony. Outside a train station. At 11.30pm on a Friday night.
Oooookay.

on chapel
After a few flying visits, I finally made it down Chapel Street today. I caught up with an old friend for breakfast (which meant waking up before 10... urgh) and then walked up and down Chapel a few times.
First, the Jam Factory. Wow. The Virgin store is amazing, if only for the great layout. Admitedly anything's disappointing after London's massive cd stores, but this is still pretty damn great. But right next door is something more impressive.
Borders is heaven. So many books! And not just a photography shelf, or just a bookcase, but a whole wall of books on and about photos. *swoon* And a whole bookcase on graphic design. I love it. And a big magazine selection. I didn't get a chance to really get into it, but Wired's latest issue on Speilberg looks great, with some interesting sounding (and looking) articles under the new editor.
And tonight I got to see a bit of the other side of Chapel — the cars. It's like Northbridge stretched out, and with trams and hook turns added for some extra excitement. Teenage guys. Cars. Stereos. Whatever makes you happy, people.
Oh, and to explain the photo, there was a guy practicing fire twirling in Southbank just before midnight. That's all.

on sales
I've been checking out the sales/warehouse clearances on Bridge and Swan the past couple of days, pretty much just because they're there, and I was wandering past. The annoying this is that there's never much men's stuff in small, which fits me best, or it's all crazy warm winter stuff that's only handy 3 days a year in Perth.
Oh well, I found a few shirts. I'm a happy man.
