Gee
It's time for G in the A-Z of CDs... I'm thinking Gelbison, I've got no idea what they're like but they're Aussie and they were at SXSW. Depending on how I feel on the weekend this may be a double-purchase round (in the fine tradition of B is for bonus! and F is for freebie!).
I'm open to suggestions -- what's a good artist beginning with G?

Good place to start:

Id suggest some early Genesis (Lamb Lies Down on Broadway), or some Marvin Gaye.

After the watching the whole 7 Worlds Collide DVD how could you go past Lisa Germano?

another aussie band who from what i've heard graced the sxsw stages is 'ground components', there's always the 'gorillaz' and i thoroughly recommend 'georges' lastest offering
other artists of note...
'guns n roses' (appetite for destruction)
'guided by voices'
'goldfrapp'
and i'm lead to believe there is something on the way from local perth act 'Nathan Gaunt and the black eyed dogs'

Lisa Germano would be pretty cool, I've been listening to 7 Worlds and thinking about getting her cd but never made the g is for Germano connection -- we might have a winner there. With Nathan Gaunt as a bonus local disc.
And I think I went over my credit card limit just looking at that list from pixelkitty :]

2/ Gerling - Bad Blood
3/ Goldfrapp - Felt Mountain
4/ George - Unity
5/ Gomez - Abandoned shopping trolley hotline

um. i would suggest "the good life" on saddle creek records. they are nice. if you've listened to cursive, they have the same frontman/songwriter. tra la la.

Well, when I think of "G" bands (which I don't do that often)... I think of G. Love. Every one ought to listen to a little G. Love once in awhile. It'll put you in a good mood! And therefore, I suggest you download G. Love's "Special Sauce" pronto!

Can I put in an extra vote for Gomez? I know someone already said it but hey, they rock.

Ahh, Gomez do mightily rock but I've already got two Gomez cds, so I think they fall into the 'would like to have their latest but already have plenty of their stuff' basket. And I'm trying to find some new bands, so they're kinda disqualified (as are George, sadly). Chris has narrowed down pixelkitty's suggestion of a Marvin Gaye album with What's Going On, which is pretty tempting too.
If we had the iTunes music store, I'd probably buy a track from each of these and see what grabs me, but we don't, so I can't. (sigh)

three words "guided by voices"

it would have to be "gota cola". a great brisbane three-piece. the album - the only album - is titled "guaranteed rustless". take a chance.
