did i mention the matrix?
Ahhh, yes. The Matrix Reloaded. I see April still hasn't written about it, so I'll attempt to fill the void.
First, some back-story. The original Matrix was good. Not amazing, but good (I was always bitter that it got so much hype, and Dark City was completely overlooked). It bugged me on a few levels, but overall it's a pretty solid mix of plot and action. And to be honest, I've seen it maybe twice all the way through. Yep, I was that ambivalent.
And then the thundering juggernaut that is Reloaded came along. I don't think I'm quite ready to talk about it yet (read Rolling Stone's review for something close).
One thing that did sour the experience was the insult that was passed off as a conclusion. After 138 minutes I'd expect more than a "click! go see the sequel!" I should go to see the next film in the series because I want to, not because I need to in order to resolve pretty much every plot point from this movie.
But then maybe that's just me.

Ok, it should be ok if I hide out here in Simon's comments and talk briefly about the film.
My one brief point being that Matrix Reloaded’s biggest downfall was that it wasn't a movie in itself. I was hoping for two huge matrix sequels that were both films in their own right, not just the one film spread over two movies. It leaves me feeling slightly ripped off.
But yes, more from me later.

"Thundering juggernaut"?! - I thought the press hysteria was downright subtle compared to the obsessive superhero rants we've seen in Time magazine of late. Count Len among the "I'm not that impressed by loud noises and chase sequences" posse.
And will someone, please, PLEASE acknowledge my email on this week's rather hilarious Onion posting on Reloaded - http://www.theonion.com/onion3918/infograph_3918.html.
No really, I don't have an attention-craving disorder.
Len.

oh do be careful :) I think I royally annoyed a friend of mine because I voiced my opinion that matrix reloaded is basically the same story as matrix original, as the character development didn't leave much space for growth. My theory is, it will be the same story with different scenary.

Now hang on just a minute here.... not wanting to be the single voice of challenge, BUT... Lets call a spade a spade. We all know it is a trilogy. Name any "movie number two" of a trilogy that does not leave you wanting for a conclusion... Empire Strikes Back, The Two Towers others that do not come to mind at the moment... but they all do it...
ALRIGHT!!!! So I haven't seen the film yet. "What would you know?" I hear you taunt... perhaps.... HEY! Aren't I entitled to an ignorant opinion just like everyone else???

Empire Strikes Back was a film in its own right, you didnt need to know about the rest of the story. And it had a conclusion. Same with The Two Towers. cept for the conclusion, but you were not left hanging at least.
The MAtrix Reloaded was a waste of my time and money. Maybe if it had any purpose, then ok. But it had no purpose at all. None.
Bah!
