new vanilla lancer
I used to have a small bottle of vanilla essence in my car (it's a long story, involving both Coke and choc-chip cookies. Let's move on). That's past tense because yesterday, while parked in the baking heat outside meetings in either Cottesloe or East Perth, the little vanilla bottle that could, well, suddenly couldn't.
It had a fair bit of air in it, which must have expanded in the direct sunlight, making the whole bottle go all bulbous and gunna-pop like. So I got in the car last night, and all the way home I'm getting this weird craving for Vanilla Coke. Then I look down into the little plastic tray between the seats and there's vanilla goo in there.
It's not like it's a mess to clean up, it's all in a little plastic well. It's just that now it's all cleaned up, there's no aroma-de-vanilla anymore. I'm not sure which I prefer: a clean goo-free car, or the faint whiff of vanilla during hot summer days.

Or, more importantly, what am I going to play with now when I'm riding in your car?
I loved that wee bottle of vanilla.
